Alliance Federated Energy and Air Products Announce Joint Development Agreement

MILWAUKEE, December 9, 2010 – Alliance Federated Energy (AFE) today announced the signing of a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: APD). Air Products will act as AFE's advisor on the design of Project Apollo, a 40 megawatt (MW) renewable energy from waste project under development by AFE in Milwaukee, Wisconsin utilizing advanced plasma gasification technology provided by AlterNRG of Calgary. Should the project proceed to construction, under the JDA Air Products would operate the facility, which is expected to create more than 250 jobs during construction and employ 45 full-time staff once operational.
As part of the JDA, AFE and Air Products will also collaborate on future waste-to-energy plasma gasification opportunities in the upper Midwest region of the United States. Air Products is a global leader with over 30 years of experience on gasification projects and in providing proprietary gas clean-up technology and process and operating expertise. Recently, Air Products announced a proposed 49 MW waste-to-energy project in Northeast England.
