Christopher D. Maloney

AFE Chief Executive Officer/Board Chairman
Mr. Maloney is a senior executive with over 27 years of P&L experience in start-up, mid-sized, and Fortune 500 companies including Asea Brown Boveri, Edison Mission Energy, Unicom/Commonwealth Edison and Thomson Reuters. He joined AFE as Chairman and CEO in early 2009. Mr. Maloney has extensive corporate management and operations experience in the energy, environmental and financial services sectors, building and transforming businesses across the globe for more than two decades. Mr. Maloney has developed and/or financed numerous energy related businesses in the United States, Africa and Europe. He holds a BS in Engineering from the University of Illinois.

Ben K. VanKorn IV
AFE President/Board Member

Mr. VanKorn is a senior executive with over 15 years of operating P&L experience. He has a proven track record providing the energy, commercial and industrial sectors with access to capital. Specializing in structured vendor finance, Mr. VanKorn has successfully implemented long-term strategic funding programs for both domestic and international OEM’s and their distribution networks, and he currently chairs the board of Alliance Capital. Mr. VanKorn holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Tim Hiller
AFE Executive VP – Land Acquisition and Site Development/Board Member

Mr. Hiller, Founder and President of the Hiller Company has joined AFE as a strategic partner and investor. Mr. Hiller will provide land use, acquisition and development services that will assist in the ongoing development of the AFE Apollo Project and other AFE Global opportunities. He is a recognized leader in land acquisition and property development throughout SE Wisconsin and is a City of Milwaukee award winner for new building design innovation. Mr. Hiller has over 22 years of experience analyzing development opportunities and securitized real estate investments throughout the United States and owns properties in Wisconsin and Texas. He has a BS in Economics and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin, an MA from Trinity University, and an MEd from Marquette University.

James D. McArdle
Finance Executive/Board Member

Mr. McArdle has over 20 years of corporate finance experience in both the public and private sectors, including corporate and strategic planning, organizational development, controllership accounting, treasury and MIS functions. Mr. McArdle is a seasoned professional with broad experience building and leading finance teams and functions. He has a track record of making sustainable improvements in cash flow, business/cost optimization, project planning and controls. Mr. McArdle holds an MBA from Marquette University and BBA from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in Finance.

Robert Riley
Chairman Williams Mullen Energy Practice Group, Advisor/Nominated Advisor

Mr. Riley is the Chairman of the Williams Mullen law firm’s Energy Practice Group based in Washington DC. Bob’s practice focuses on development, ownership, operation and management of electric generation, and renewable energy projects. He has over 30 years experience in the energy industry and has worked with an extensive list of clients authoring and/or negotiating a wide range of purchase and sales agreements including power purchase, interconnection, natural gas, transportation and transmission, power plant construction, and O&M.

Sanford Selman
Founder & Managing Director, Asia West, LLC Advisor/Nominated Advisor

Mr. Selman is the Founder and Managing Director of Asia West LLC, and has 26 years of project finance and venture capital experience in the infrastructure sector. During his career, he has arranged approximately $1.5 billion in structured financing. Mr. Selman has significant industry experience including power generation and transmission, energy efficiency, water and wastewater treatment, mass transit, air pollution control, pulp and paper, oil and gas production, and refining and petrochemicals. Mr. Selman holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Investments from The George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (with Distinction) from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He currently serves as Chairman of Mobius Technologies, Inc., Chairman of E-Leather Ltd., and a Director of MBA Polymers Inc.

Steven Foti
President, Hanson Service Corporation/Advisor

Steven “Mick” Foti is the owner and President of Capitol Management Group, a comprehensive full service lobbying firm located directly across the street from the Wisconsin State Capitol. Prior to merging with another firm to create Capitol Management Group, Mick was principal of Hanson Service Corporation which was founded in 1978 and one of the top rated lobbying firms within the state and that reputation continues today.Mr. Foti served in the Wisconsin State Legislature for 22 years. Elected to the State Assembly in 1982 he chaired various committees over the years, serving as Vice Chair of the Finance Committee and during his last eight years in the legislature serving as House Majority Leader, the second most powerful position in the Assembly. He holds to this day the record for the most years served as House Majority Leader. Mr. Foti has worked, and continues to work, effectively with members of both sides of the political aisle at the state as well as federal level. He is highly regarded in Wisconsin state government circles, where his associations with key legislators, staff, and agency heads span many years.
